As luck would have it…
A 70-year-old Louisiana man was sleeping in his living room when a car crashed through his house and landed right on top of him.

Fortunately, he was okay. In fact, he felt good enough to ask the ambulance driver to stop on the way to the hospital so he could buy a lottery ticket, figuring it must have been his lucky day.

But this wasn't his first lucky day… His house has been hit by cars five times since he's lived there. Some might call that the unluckiest location imaginable — but he seems to prefer a very glass-half-full approach to life.

It's actually fairly normal for people to look around their home and feel like they'd finally be happy — and never have to move again — if it just had this, that, or another thing.

A lot of people try to sort that feeling out by talking to friends, family, or even running scenarios through ChatGPT. That can all be helpful, but sometimes it just creates more noise.

6 funny ways for sellers to choose which buyer wins a bidding war
It probably sounds ideal to have multiple offers when you're selling your home — and don't get me wrong, it absolutely is!

But it's also not quite the no-brainer many sellers expect it to be. Saying "no" to one or more buyers can actually be harder (and more stressful) than saying "yes" to the one you choose. And when the offers are close, picking between them isn't always easy.

Unless you've been through it yourself, it's hard to appreciate just how stressful a multiple-offer situation can be. Whether you've experienced it as a seller, hope to one day, or are in the middle of it right now, this funny list of creative ways for sellers to choose between buyers should at least give you a good laugh.

High-end hotels are known for sky-high prices, but one new hotel set to open in 2032 is taking that literally.

A 21-year-old plans to build the world's first moon hotel, and he's already offering pre-construction reservations with down payments ranging from $250,000 to $1,000,000, depending on the options you choose.

Is it safe to assume the $250,000 package comes with a view of the parking lot and dumpsters?

There's been a lot of talk lately about the "great wealth transfer," and it's often painted as heirs receiving a big windfall they'll use to live a more lavish lifestyle.

For many families, though, a large portion of that wealth is tied up in homes. And before heirs see a dime of usable money, they often have to spend some of their own just to maintain the property. Between taxes, insurance, upkeep, and repairs, the costs can add up quickly, and can be a real strain during an already emotional time.

1)  Make less than $50,000 in income per year.

2)  Only used it as a rental.

3)  Use the house as your primary residence 2 years out of the past 5 years before you sell.

4)  Don't report it on your taxes and never get audited

Well, I don't actually have a sleigh, and honestly we'll probably just meet at the houses… but you get the point!

Disney+ and Hulu recently unveiled a massive gingerbread replica of the Home Alone house, complete with movie-accurate details that earned it a Guinness World Record for the largest gingerbread house inspired by a film.

Coincidentally, the actual Home Alone house in Winnetka, Illinois is being restored to better match how it appeared in the movie — even though it was fully renovated and sold earlier this year.

It's proof that in real estate, "updated" doesn't always mean "better"… especially when nostalgia is the most valuable feature in a house.

Survey says: personal space makes for a happier home
Wanting a little personal space at home doesn't mean something's wrong — it's totally normal when you're sharing life, routines, and square footage with someone else. A recent survey suggests that when people have room to decompress and reset, home life is happier and relationships even stronger.

Of course, not every home has the luxury of a dedicated man cave or she-shed, but that doesn't mean you can't carve out your own spot.

Here's an article I recently published with some tips for using the space you do have to create a little "me time" away from your significant other. What's all the buzz about?
In the UK, a man's home drew so much attention because of a swarm of flies in his windows that concerned neighbors actually called the police to check on him.

As it turns out, he was perfectly fine — just battling a serious fly invasion. To stop the calls (and the commotion), he posted a sign on his window assuring everyone he was okay and politely telling them to, well… buzz off about it. ?

While no one wants to be the talk of the neighborhood, he should also appreciate that people still care enough to notice!
Lower payments? Yes. Lower costs? Not exactly.

Creative ways sellers can respond to lowball offers
When it comes time to sell your home, there's always a chance someone thinks they can sneak in with a ridiculously low offer and get it accepted. (Not gonna happen on my watch, of course!)

It's tempting to send them packing — or rather NOT packing — with a few choice words. But more often than not it's better to just politely thank them for the offer and respond with a counteroffer.

Since we'll probably have to bite our tongues if this ever happens in real life, I thought it'd be fun to come up with a list of sarcastic ways to respond to lowballers!

As an agent, I've certainly heard a story or two about neighbors not getting along. Usually, it's minor, and after an awkward chat everyone moves on — or just chooses to avoid each other forever. But some neighbors really take things to new levels.

Case in point: in France, one cat's garden adventures ended up costing its owner over €1,100. The cat was found guilty of trespassing, leaving paw prints on walls, and even leaving "gifts" in a neighbor's garden. To make matters worse, the judge ruled that every future fence-crossing could trigger another fine!

I doubt (and hope!) that this is never something you'll have to deal with. But if neighbor disputes ever become tricky, feel free to reach out—I'm always happy to help figure out a diplomatic solution.
Buyers probably won't notice the pillows anyway
A recent article talked about the perfect throw pillows to arrange on your bed when selling your home. "Staging" certainly never hurts, but taking it that far is probably more than most of you need to do.

Staging isn't always about perfectly placed furniture, pictures, or pillows. Often, it's the little things that buyers don't have to notice that make the biggest difference.
